Iran-Spain joint conference dubbed "Iran in 21st Century: Energy and Security" aiming to examine various dimensions of Iran's nuclear program opened at the Spanish capital of Madrid on Monday.

The one-day conference held at the Institute of International Affairs and Foreign Policy (INCIPE) is attended by dozens of foreign relations experts and researchers, university professors, diplomats and Iranian expatriates residing in Spain.

During the inaugural ceremony, head of INCIPE, Iran's Ambassador to Madrid Morteza Alviri and Director General of Iran's Foreign Ministry Political Bureau Mostafa Zahrani expressed their general views on Iran's role in promotion of security and supply of the world energy in the 21st century.

For his part, Alviri expressed satisfaction with the ongoing conference and referred to it as a proper opportunity for further introduction of the two countries to each other and a step towards strengthening of bilateral ties.
