QUÉ VERGÜENZA. El comisario de comercio de la Unión Europea, Peter Mandelson, ha planteado en China la posibilidad de que, a cambio de levantar el embargo de la venta de armas, el gigante asiático reduzca las exportaciones textiles a Europa:
"We in Europe are preparing to move forward to lift the arms embargo," he said in a speech to students at Beijing's University of International Business and Economics.
Mandelson said China could adopt a cautious approach to the new global trading environment, highlighting textiles as an example following the lifting of quotas on January 1 this year.
"I have been encouraged by the readiness of China to consider introducing measures which may help to inhibit a dramatic surge of exports which could destabilize the new conditions under which world trade in textile products takes place," he said.
Como dice Josep Maria Fàbregas, en cuyo blog he visto esta asquerosa noticia, "es decir, Bruselas está dispuesta a vender las armas con las que China amenazará a Taiwan a cambio de que los consumidores europeos paguen más cara la ropa. ¡Eso sí que es un modelo de política internacional y no la de los americanos derrocando a Saddam forzando a los iraquíes a ir a votar!"
